Windows Internet Time Set

Wits

Did you know that your Windows XP (and Windows 2003 Server) computers have a simple, but effective, built-in clock? Of course you did. But did you know that this clock could be synchronized with remote master clocks on your local network or Time Servers on the internet? Quite likely. But did you know that there are several remote synchronization capabilities that you do not easily have access to? Unlikely. Did you also know that your Windows XP computer could be a Time Server too? Almost certainly not. This is where Wits comes in handy.

Wits provides easy access to these hidden remote synchronization features of your standard Windows time service.

Features

Allow a list of Time Servers to be used. If one fails, Windows will try the next in the list.
Save and load Time Server lists from simple text files.
Adjust the maximum possible correction without giving an error.
Set the update interval to be more frequent than the default once per week!
Adjust the Time Server parameters of your own PC and turn it into a Time Server.

What's more..Wits is completely free. There's no installer..you just download and run the signed executable file.

The appearance of Wits will depend on your chosen Windows Theme. In this case, the Royale theme was used.

Wits is intended to be self documenting via tool tips so there are no instructions. Note that Wits itself does no more than allow you to edit Windows registry settings so it does not need to be run unless you want to change settings or force an update (by pressing the Ok button). Wits doesn't even need an internet connection to work but, if you choose internet Time Servers for synchronization you will need an internet connection for the actual time synchronization to work.

More information about NTP (Network Time Protocol) and available internet Time Servers can be found at the home of the Network Time Protocol.

Important Information

Wits is Freeware, is provided "as is" and comes without free Anobyte support. You use it at your own risk and Anobyte will not be held responsible for any problems caused as a result of using Wits. If you require support for Wits, please contact us for a quotation.

Download description

There are two identical downloads available. You can choose to download via http or ftp as required.

As of 27th October 2004, all official Anobyte downloads are digitally signed for authenticity and your protection. If you see a valid Anobyte digital signature, you know the download is official and the code has not been tampered with. If you have Windows XP SP2, you will be presented with this information before you can run these files. After downloading, you can, also, manually check the digital signatures by right clicking on the file, selecting 'Properties' then choosing the 'Digital Signatures' tab. You should see an "Anobyte" signature issued by "UTN-USERFirst-Object". If you do not see this, you are in possession of an unauthorized and tampered with file. See our trustworthiness page for more information including sample dialogs you may be presented with when trying to run a download.
